From New York City to Long Beach, east meets West in several ways as SUBA Sushi & Tapas Lounge, in Bixby Knolls, located at 3550 Long Beach Blvd., with the look, feel, music and flavors of modern day Japan & Spain.
The Tapas
SUBA’s Executive Chef David Santiago Sr., master of contemporary Spanish cuisine, has collected his experience from Suba NYC, and Boqueria in New York, to bring you his best dishes right here in Long Beach. Add to that traditional cultural dishes native to the east/west regions like Carne a la Plancha, Conchas y Habichuelas, and of course Paella, to give SUBA’s authenticity to Spanish cuisine.
The Sushi
SUBA’s Japanese flair is influenced by Chef Shane Hollinger, ads his own Hawaiian heritage to his Sushi creations. Chef Hollinger’s “specialty” Sushi rolls, as learned directly from Japan, (which he visits twice a year for added training by Sushi masters),are mixed with island sauces he brings from Hawai’i.
Both Chef’s and their specialty menus, truly bring you an East meets West fusion of delectable foods you’ll never forget.
Inside the restaurant, the hip latin music, and exclusive fine art by Mark Richmond, leaves you feeling like you’ve experienced Tokyo, Sevilla and Bixby Knolls in one setting.
The overall experience is what makes SUBA, SUBA. The Spanish influence of Tapas by Executive Chef David Santiago, the Japanese/Hawaiian influence of Sushi by Chef Shane Hollinger, an eclectic loungy atmosphere, music where hip-hop meets international flamenco/ reggae sounds, and fresh modern Japanese tattoo art by celebrity artist Mark Richmond.
