Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
I started K&G Handyman Services in 2010. I was working a regular job and working my handyman business on my days off. In 2012 I resigned from my regular job and went full time with my handyman business.
What is your primary product or service?
Simply put, "I'll Do The Honey-Do's That Your Honey Won't Do!" I do whatever odd job you need done. Maybe it's sprinkler repair, or you need a microwave installed, or maybe your swamp cooler needs service, or a screen door installed. Whatever it is you need done around the house, I'll do!
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I've been doing this kind of work my whole life. Whatever needed to be done, I would do. If I wasn't sure how to do something, I would research it until I did. One day after helping my best friend, Bob, with a project at his home, he asked me why I didn't start my own handyman business. He got me thinking about it and since I wasn't real happy with my job, I decided to do it. Bob owns B&D Appliance Repair Service here in the Antelope Valley. He said to me, "The best piece of advice I can give to you to help you build a successful business is Always be honest with your customers, charge a fair price, stand behind your work, and be a man of your word. If you always do those 4 things, your customers will call you back the next time and tell their friends & family about you." That was Great advice! That's how I run my business and I believe if you use me once,...you'll use me again!!
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
My price! I charge much less than my competitors. With K&G Handyman Services, you get professional service and quality work for a better price. It's important to me that my customers trust me and are completly satisfied with my work.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
I work from my home so that I can keep my overhead down. That's one of the reasons I can charge less.
Provide detailed directions to your location
I live in Palmdale but it's probably better if I go to the customers location. That's where the job is! (a little humor....more of that later)
What type of payments do you accept?
Check or Cash
Which areas do you service?
Palmdale, Lancaster, Rosamond, Acton, Littlerock, Pearblossom, Lake LA, Juniper Hills, Llano, Lake Elizabeth, Leona Valley, Lake Hughes, Quartz Hill, and the entire Antelope Valley, California.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
I Do. Kris Lindstrom, "The Handyman" (and part-time comedian)
What are your hours of operation?
Who said I need an operation?!! Do you know something I don't?!! Just kidding. I'm always looking for a little humor. I know, I know....very little! My hours of operation are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm Mon-Sat. On Sunday, I have to do the honey-do's on my honey's list!
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
"You're Funny Kris! Especially that operation joke!" Actually, when a customer says they are very happy with my work, that's the best compliment! "You're Funny Kris" would be 2nd.
What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
"I'll Do The Honey-Do's That Your Honey Won't Do!" I think that's in the book of John chapter 1.
